Our tentative first day of school is still Wednesday, August 22nd!
The cleaning of the buildings is going well and we are hoping to clear the inspection by this Monday, August 13th. The bond projects are progressing and are estimated to be completed by next week. Our biggest obstacle at this point is the air quality which has been mostly in the unhealthy range. If the air clears by August 22nd, we should be ready to open school.
Today I will be speaking with Senator McGuire and the CA Department of Education along with the superintendents from Upper Lake and Lucerne. After this conversation, I should have a better idea about the possibility of a waiver for some or all the days we have missed. After that, we will discuss the calendar with the calendar committee and take an adjusted recommended calendar to the board. Many of our families and staff members have suffered because of this fire. Our staff will be receiving training on Trauma Care for themselves and our students to help mitigate this difficult time. We all hope to welcome back our students soon.
